First Presidential Debate Between Trump and Harris in Philadelphia Ends

This is the first time that both U.S. presidential candidates have faced each other in a debate.
The presidential debate between the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, and the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, began on Tuesday in Philadelphia, United States of America (US).

This is the first time that both presidential candidates have faced each other in a debate at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, with moderators, ABC News journalists David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Former President Trump claimed that Biden’s economic policies have been «a failure» and said this is reflected in the high levels of inflation in the US. He also attacked migrants and claimed that they are taking their jobs away from African-Americans and Hispanics.
For his part, Harris described Trump’s words as «the same old rhetoric». She indicated that she was raised as a middle-class girl, and claimed to be the only person on the stage of the debate who has a plan to help the middle class and working people in the US.
He also indicated that Trump has no government plan, while stating that he left the worst unemployment since the Great Depression; the worst public health epidemic in a century and the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War. President Joe Biden has cleaned up his mess».
Regarding the economy, Harris stated that for Q2/Q3 2025, in case Trump wins, his economic plan would lead the country into a recession.

The Issue of Abortion in the U.S.
The Republican candidate called the Democrats «radicals» on the abortion issue.
«Your vice presidential candidate says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. It also says that the execution after birth is an execution, because it’s no longer abortion, because the baby was already born, it’s fine», he said.
On the subject, Harris warned of the dangers to pregnant women, many of whom are rape victims, who try to access medical care, and warned that Trump will sign a national ban on abortion.
«The government and Donald Trump should certainly not tell a woman what to do with her body», he said.
Tech Race Against China
During the debate, Harris accused Trump of «selling» the US. China, through the sale of chips from Chinese and other US-made computers. Trump, meanwhile, claimed that those chips were bought by the U.S. from Taiwan.
Harris also warned about the importance of Washington winning the tech race to China.
